2007 Health Ministry Empowerment Tour - Select Health's Mission in Action

As an organization dedicated to the community, Select Health is proud to see its mission in action positively affecting people's lives as it did during this year's Health Ministry Empowerment Tour.

The tour, presented each year by Select Heath of South Carolina and Imara Woman magazine, is designed to help minority women in rural communities live healthier, more productive lives. Nearly 600 women participated in the 2007 program, which made stops in Hopkins, Denmark and Spartanburg. Participants were able to select from dozens of interactive workshops that addressed dietary habits, chronic disease, gardening, money and debt management, homeownership and more.

Award-winning actress and motivational speaker, Dr. Tonea Stewart delivered the keynote address at each of the tour stops. She recounted and shared lessons from her life in rural Mississippi and encouraged participants to take ownership of their health and to nurture their God-given talents in order to uplift themselves and their communities.
