The 2011 Select Health of South Carolina Preferred Drug List (PDL) is now available. The PDL represents therapeutic recommendations based on documented clinical efficacy, safety and cost-effectiveness. Select Health’s Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee developed this list. The committee is comprised of pharmacists, primary care physicians and specialists representing the Upstate, Midlands and Lowcountry regions.
We appreciate your time in reviewing this list and your consideration in prescribing the preferred products. Medications not listed are considered non-preferred and require prior authorization. Providers may request the addition or deletion of a medication to the list. Requests to add a medication must include the drug name, rationale for inclusion on the list, role in therapy and medications that may be replaced by the addition. Please direct such requests to the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee at Select Health, P.O. Box 40849, Charleston, SC 29423.
