Participant Registration for Basketball Clinic is Still Available
Columbia, SC
Children suffering from asthma will receive a day of relief from common allergies this fall at the Healthy Hoops Charleston Fall Fest, a fun-filled basketball clinic to be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 15 at Burke High School, 244 President Street in Charleston. The clinic, designed to teach children with asthma how to lead a healthy and active lifestyle, is free and open to children ages seven to 15 and their families.
Sponsored by Select Health of South Carolina in partnership with the South Carolina Asthma Alliance, Scheing-Plough, AmeriHealth Mercy and the Healthy Hoops Coalition, the Charleston Fall Fest will use basketball as a platform to teach participants and their families how to manage asthma through appropriate medication usage, proper nutrition, monitored exercise and recreational activities. Participants will enjoy free basketball lessons from local area coaches, live entertainment, and an awards ceremony. Community partners will also be on-site to provide free health screenings and information on asthma education. Lunch will be provided.
Space is still available for asthmatic children to participate in the Charleston Fall Fest. However, children must receive a health screening first. For more information and to register, call 1.866.HOOPS.SC.
