Over 500 Attendees Turn Out for Health Ministry Empowerment TourEvent provides women with valuable health education and informationNovember 04, 2009
The final stop of the 2009 Health Ministry Empowerment Tour recently concluded on October 24 in Rock Hill, and combined with the first two tour stops, which included Charleston on October 3 and Aiken on October 17, over 500 women attended the tour, making it a successful and educational venue for providing women with life-saving health information and resources needed to continue living healthy, active lifestyles. Those who attended the tour not only received important health information, but they also attended life management workshops, received free health screenings, and were provided the opportunity for conversation with other women in their community with the same interest in their health. Attendees also were treated to fun physical activity sessions and healthy snacks throughout the day. “The Health Ministry Empowerment Tour presented an opportunity for women of all ages and walks of life to engage in a day of education, information and fun for free,” said Gail Diggs, the steering committee chairwomen for the Aiken tour stop. “They came as they were, no frills, no fame, and truly left empowered." A collaborative effort between Select Health of South Carolina and IMARA Woman Magazine, the Health Ministry Empowerment Tour serves as a free event that targets minority women in rural communities across the state to provide them with health education and quality of life resources. The 2010 Health Ministry Empowerment Tour will begin again in October 2010. About Select Health |
