Contract between Select Health of South Carolina and Greenville Hospital System to End
Statewide Health Insurer Taking Steps to Ensure Uninterrupted Care for Its Members
Select Health of South Carolina, the state’s largest Medicaid and SCHIP health insurer, today announced that it has been unable to reach a mutual agreement on the terms of a new hospital contract with Greenville Hospital System (GHS). As a result, the hospital system will no longer be a part of the First Choice/First Choice Kids network effective February 1, 2010.
In an effort to ensure uninterrupted care, Select Health will help affected members find other network providers. Affected members who wish to keep their GHS-affiliated primary care doctor may do so by calling a Healthy Connections enrollment counselor at 877.552.4642 and switching to a different health plan. The First Choice/First Choice Kids Member Services staff will also be available seven days a week to help members with the transition.
