2011 Health Ministry Empowerment Tour Coming to Summerton
Summerton, SC

The 2011 Health Ministry Empowerment Tour will come to Summerton Saturday, Oct. 29, with Columbia TV journalist Judi Gatson headlining a day of inspiring and informative workshops for women with the overall theme, "Mind, Body, Spirit: Bringing the Good News."

Select Health of South Carolina and IMARA Woman magazine have joined together once again to sponsor the popular Health Ministry Empowerment Tour.

"The Health Ministry Empowerment Tour is a great opportunity for women in our community to learn more about pertinent issues regarding health, finance and networking," said Julia Nelson, mayor of Manning and chair of the Health Ministry Empowerment Tour Steering Committee. "I'm hoping the women of our community and surrounding areas will take advantage of this information and join us. I've had the opportunity to hear Judi Gatson before and she is a dynamic speaker. You don’t want to miss this event."

The free event will run from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Scott’s Branch High School and includes an array of health screenings, exhibits and workshops, such as the ABCs of Diabetes, Social Networking Unwrapped and Age Ain't Nothing But a Number! A complimentary lunch will include a fashion show and entertainment as well as Gatson as the motivational guest speaker.

A veteran of Columbia's WIS News 10, Gatson has won three Emmy awards for her work as an anchor as well as Associated Press awards for consumer reporting and education coverage. Her popular "Buy It & Try It" series tests "As Seen? on TV" products. She also anchored and produced a documentary on the Confederate flag's display at the South Carolina Statehouse. Her community involvement includes visits to mentor teen girls at the Department of Juvenile Justice.

Advance registration is required to attend the 2011 Health Ministry Empowerment Tour and can be done online at www.imarawoman.com or by calling 803.252.0647.  Sign up early for this can't-miss community event.
